Everyone needs to exercise, and staying hydrated is critical for gout sufferers.

What Types of Exercise Can Cause Gout?

The type of exercise you do is not what matters, the level of intensity and the amount of water loss are what gout sufferers should pay attention to. Again, water is the most important thing to consider when dealing with gout. When the level of water in the body is low, the density of uric acid in the blood rises. Drink at least 24 oz. (0.7L) of water before exercising, then drink at least 8 oz. (0.24L) every 15 minutes or so throughout your exercise session. Drink more water after so that hydration stays up. Fruits like bananas can replenish carbohydrates, potassium and other minerals lost through sweat.

Whatever the activity, if you are sweating a lot and not putting the water back, the conditions for gout symptoms will increase. So, if you have ever had gout always remember that hydration is a must when exercising.
